Recycling and Solid Waste Center

The Recycling and Solid Waste Center (RSWC) is located at

160 Commercial Avenue, and is open Monday through

Saturday from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm. The RSWC has drop-off

areas for trash, single stream recyclables and food scraps.

Additional recyclables that are not accepted

in curbside recycling bins can be brought to

the RSWC. These additional materials are listed below.


The RSWC also hosts household hazardous waste drop off

  • Phone and laptop batteries (Lithium)
  • Rechargable AA and AAA batteries (NiMH)
  • Button batteries (common in watches, calculators and hearing aids)
  • If leaking, place in plastic bag with absorbent material.
  • 10 Lead acid batteries per load.
  • Single use Alkaline batteries can be disposed of as trash.

  • Straight fluorescent tubes
  • Compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFL)

  • Up to nine 6' and 8' tubes accepted at one time. If 10 or more, call 273-6632

Food Scraps
  • All food scraps including fruits, vegetables, grains, meat, bones, and dairy
  • Paper napkins
  • Paper towels
  • Biocompostable liners
  • Tell the attendant that you are using the Food Scraps Recycling Dropspot
  • Empty food scraps into the compost totes at the Food Scraps station
  • Food scraps may come in biocompostable liners
  • Users can bring up to 10 gallons per day, per person
Fats, Oils, and Grease (FOG)
  • Liquid animal fats
  • Vegetable oils
  • Cooking grease
  • Bring FOG in a reusable container for pouring into the FOG collector
  • FOG funnels are available free of charge at the Solid Waste Office to assist with pouring FOG into reusable containers
  • No motor oils or solids
Rigid Plastics

  • Storage totes
  • Plastic shelving or organizers
  • Items must be no larger than a 55 gallon drum.
  • Items smaller than a 5 gallon bucket can be recycled at the curb or in single-stream recycling.

These include most plastic bags, dry cleaning bags,consumer packaging (on paper towels, etc.), 6-pack rings,

bread bags, cereal bags, Ziplock® bags (clean and dry), air pillows (air released), newspaper bags, and case wrap (e.g. bottles)
