Tours and Presentations

Tompkins County schools and community groups are welcome to arrange for a tour of the Recycling and Solid Waste Center at 160 Commercial Ave in Ithaca. Inidviduals not associated with a school or community group - and who are Tompkins County residents - can sign up for a tour that is provided on the second Thursday of every month.

Tompkins County Recycling and Materials Management staff takes part in local events throughout the County.

The 4Rs (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, and Rebuy) are listed in this order for a reason. By starting with reduce and ending with rebuy, we save the most resources, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, create jobs, and close the loop.


Rural Waste Reduction and Recycling
A manual and video that are intended to aid recycling coordinators in providing waste reduction and recycling assistance to rural mobile home parks and apartment complexes.


America Recycles Day

America Recycles Day (ARD), November 15, is the only nationally-recognized day dedicated to promoting and celebrating recycling and waste reduction in the U.S.
