
Licensing Haulers
All solid waste haulers in Tompkins County must be registered and licensed by the county. For more information, please dial 273-6632.
Permits and licenses may be revoked for non-payment of County solid waste fees or failure to abide by the regulations governing use of the Recycling and Solid Waste Center (RSWC).
In addition, all haulers providing regular roadside trash removal must make single trash tags available for purchase by the public, either directly or by mail.
As stated in the Tompkins County Charter and Code, Section140-23 A :
"Except as otherwise provided in this section or in the rules and regulations promulgated pursuant to § 140-22, no person shall engage in the business of collecting, transporting or handling solid waste generated or originated or brought within the county without a solid waste license issued by the Commissioner, provided that only persons who collect, transport or handle solid waste for compensation shall be required to obtain a solid waste license."
If you wish to haul Solid Waste within Tompkins County, please fill out the Hauler License application and return it to the Tompkins County Solid Waste Management Division. The address and contact information is listed on the application.
