Licensed Haulers

Residents and businesses that would rather not haul their own garbage to the RSWC, may contract with a licensed solid waste hauler for regular roadside/curbside service. These individuals pay for the weight of trash placed at the curb via trash tags. Small tags are placed on trash bags or cans when the waste is placed out at the roadside/curbside and are removed by the hauler at the time of pick up.

As required by Tompkins County law, trash tags must be placed on garbage bags/cans collected by a waste hauler.  It is a violation for the hauler to remove trash not bearing a trash tag.  It is also a violation for the waste generator to place waste out for collection without a trash tag. Please contact your hauler to find out where you can purchase trash tags.

Please note: Garbage placed in dumpsters or rolloffs do not require a trash tag.
