Residential Permits

A permit is required to dispose of all waste at the Tompkins County Recycling and Solid Waste Center. Permits are good for three years and may be obtained at the Tompkins County Solid Waste Management Division during office hours.  A current Tompkins County vehicle registration must be presented when applying for a permit.  For vehicles not registered in Tompkins County, proof of Tompkins County residency is required.  Permit applications can also be found here or be requested via phone. A printed copy of the permit application must be mailed to the offices of the Solid Waste Management Division at 122 Commercial Avenue for processing.

The cost of a residential permit is $10 per vehicle which is valid for 3 years.
