Post-Closure Maintenance

In 2006 the Solid Waste Division continued conducting post-closure monitoring and maintenance at the closed landfills: Caswell and Hillview Road landfills. 

Landfill post-closure activities include:

• quarterly landfill inspections 
• groundwater monitoring and reporting 
• inspection and monitoring of leachate collection system, monitoring of leachate removal and treatment 
• mowing services 
• road maintenance and snow removal
• landfill gas survey and reports
• maintenance of facilities, including fence and gates.
